Joe Brown is a Board Member of D'Veal Family Services, contributing his expertise to support the organization's mission of serving needy families. Joe brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished service record to the community. With a career spanning 34 years, Joe served as the Postal Manager at the Pasadena Postal Annex, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication. His commitment to advocating for workers' rights was evident during his tenure as President of the Postal Union. Joe's academic background includes attending Arkansas Baptist College and earning a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Los Angeles, which provided a solid foundation for his professional and civic endeavors. Upon retiring, Joe continued his public service by being elected to the Altadena Town Council, where he served as a member from 2001 to 2004, representing Census Tract 4301.03. His leadership skills were further recognized when he was elected President of the Pasadena NAACP, an organization that, under his presidency, grew to become one of the largest memberships across ethnic lines in California. Joe held this position for 12 years, championing civil rights and empowering social justice.
Joe's commitment to his faith and community is evident through his roles at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Altadena, where he is the Deacon Board Chair and past Trustee Board Chairman. Additionally, he is an ordained Deacon and an active member of GIDEONS International. His service to the nation is a testament to his sense of duty and discipline, having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Joe's dedication to public safety is reflected in his graduation from the 22nd Citizen Police Academy of the Pasadena Police Department. Joe Brown's commitment to community welfare is not just a part of his professional and civic duties but a personal passion. He has volunteered at the 5 Acres Boys & Girls Home in Altadena and served as the past President of the Eliot Middle School PTA in Pasadena.
